About Boots and Blooms Foundation
Our Mission
The Boots and Blooms Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
We strive to provide families that endure the tragic loss of a child with the ability to make everlasting memories with them. We know firsthand how important these memories are. The Boots and Blooms Foundation was created in memory of our daughter, Lillian Charlotte Lee, who was stillborn on May 14, 2018 and our son, Andrew Cole Lee, who we lost nearly 17 weeks into our pregnancy and was born February 17, 2023. Our sweet babies have helped us donate to 6 area hospitals in their honor and memory.
Lilly and Andy, although not physically present, are an everyday part of our family’s lives and are so loved and missed. The loss of a pregnancy or baby doesn’t end with just the pregnancy; it is an entire lifetime that will forever be missed and longed for.
1 in every 160 pregnancies results in a stillbirth and 1 in every 4 pregnancies results in a miscarriage. These babies were loved and wanted and our goal is to help families make memories with them during the limited time they physically have with them. Since 2018 we have donated 100s of casting kits to allow families to have 3D molds of their baby’s hands and feet. We have also donated 100s of blankets (most with matching stuffed animals) so families can hold their baby in a soft brand new blanket. We partnered with Mamie’s Poppy‘s Plates to bring handprint/footprint personalized plates to CarolinaEast at no cost to the families.
We donated bassinets that are more “home like” that a cuddle cot cooling system will work well with, cameras and photography props, clothing for babies of all gestational ages, and ways to help families create memories during the brief period of time they physically have with their babies.
We’ve partnered with Regali jewelry to bring a silver thumbprint charm program to CarolinaEast, Carteret, Onslow, Lenoir, ECU Health Beaufort, & ECU Health Edgecom. These silver charms have a 3D imprint of their baby’s thumbprint and were so important for us to bring to local smaller hospitals as the charm we have from our daughter is one of our most prized possessions. They are now provided to families and we plan to further expand this to additional hospitals in the near future. We want to reach as many bereaved families as we possibly can.
We hosted our first annual 5K in 2023 and look forward to continuing this tradition annually on the first Saturday in October. This year the Boots and Blooms 5K will be held at the Martin Marietta Park in New Bern, NC on 10/3/2026 with a virtual option as well. This is a walk or run event. We were thrilled with the turnout and outpouring of support we’ve received and are honored to remember other families babies with them. We can’t wait for this year‘s event and to help honor and remember ALL of the babies gone too soon.

Boots and Blooms 5K! Walk or run!
The Boots and Blooms 5K is our main fundraising event and an amazing time to bring our community and bereaved families together to remember ALL the babies gone too soon 🩷💙 October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month and we host our 5K on the first Saturday in October. we can’t wait for our fourth annual event on 10/3/2026 and hope to see you there!!
